Katie sent this old picture of the boys playing together – Matthias took one look at it and shouted “Lukieee! I wanna go see Lukie!!!” We are expecting them to visit us in the summer, can’t wait to see their reaction when they see each other!
We got a picture of the Splendores, too (also visiting in the summer) – the reaction was equally strong, except it took him a few seconds to get the names right. It sort of went in this sequence: “Grandma! (short hesitation, frowning, taking a closer look, eyes light up) Coooow! (Gerard and Pat had given Matthias a toy cow and pig for his 2 year old birthday, so he named the cow after Pat and the pig after Gerard) and then suddenly the lights went on and he shrieked in utter recognition: Pat! Gerard! Priceless, like the Splendores themselves. 
Luke was asking what Denmark looked like, so I came to this page to show him pictures and he immediately asked to go see “Thias and Izabellll” and I said “Oh Hun, I wish we could go right now” and he said “But it’s far?” and frowned and broke my heart. We’ll see you guys not soon enough <3
Can’t wait, Matthias ALWAYS squeals “Lukieeee” when he sees this picture, then he adds “Luke?”, “Katie?” and I keep repeating the same “cxoming, in the summer” – his ENglish language is just as basic as it was in NY, as you can see
I should probably start looking at tickets now. What airport is closest to you? And how does one occupy a 2 year old on a flight that long?
